Gluten Free Bread Crumbs

Bread crumbs are the perfect use for the “heels” of gluten-free bread, or any gluten-free bread that is crumbly and not useable with sandwiches! Get creative with the spices and herbs – make this recipe “yours” by seasoning to taste!

1/4 cup of butter
8 slices of gluten-free bread (check label for allergens)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried oregano
Salt & pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Tear the bread up into ½” pieces, or smaller, and place in a large bowl.

Melt the butter, and stir in the seasonings. Feel free to add or delete any spices or fresh herbs! Pour half of the butter over the bread crumbs and stir. Once the butter is absorbed, mix in the rest of the butter, and stir again.

On a cookie sheet, spread the seasoned bread on a single layer and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crisp.

Remove from oven and cool.

If you need fine bread crumbs for a coating, or meatball mix, process the bread crumbs through a blender or food processor, by pulsing a few times, until fine.

Makes about 4 cups of bread crumbs (or 2 cups of fine bread crumbs)
