Replace the beef with chicken, if desired. Serve over fresh steamed rice.

2 pounds of fresh broccoli
1 pound of beef sirloin
5 tablespoons of canola or corn oil
2 garlic clove, minced
2 1/2 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce (Check label for allergens)
1 1/2 cups of water, divided
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons corn starch
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Wash the broccoli and trim away the tough stems. Cut the tender stalks and the flowerets into bite sized pieces, about 1 ½ to 2” long. Set aside.

Cut the beef into bite sized strips.

Heat the oil in a large skillet, or wok. When hot, add the meat and brown both sides, for about 2 minutes. Add the garlic, gluten-free soy sauce and the  sugar. Toss the beef to coat, and continue to cook another couple of minutes. Remove meat with a slotted spoon and set aside.

Add the broccoli, and 1 ¼ cups of water. Cover and bring to a boil. Cook for about 3 minutes and stir. Cover again and cook for another 3 minutes. Add the meat and toss to mix.

In a small bowl, blend the cornstarch with the remaining ¼ cup of water. Pour the cornstarch mixture in the broccoli and beef, and stir to blend. Cook another 2 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately with hot rice.

Serves 4.
