Nut Free Fish Free Gluten Free

This recipe is portioned to feed a crowd of 12, but is easily reduced to half. A great holiday brunch dish!

24 slices gluten-free sandwich bread
1 dozen eggs
3 cups milk
¾ cup grand mariner
4 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
¾ teaspoon salt
1 ½ tablespoon finely grated orange zest
About 6-8 tablespoons of butter for cooking

Garnish:
Confectioner’s sugar
Orange slices

The night before your breakfast or brunch, arrange the slices of bread in single layer on baking dishes that are at least 2” deep.

Beat the eggs with milk, then add the Grand Marnier, sugar, vanilla, salt, and orange zest. Blend again until combined. Pour the mixtures over the bread, and turn the slices to coat both sides. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

When ready to serve, heat a bit of butter in a large skillet, place the bread slices in the heated pan and sauté until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Dust liberally with confectioners’ sugar, garnish with an orange slice and serve hot.

Serves 12.
